In the course of the year, the Committee on the Future Economy (CFE) reached more than 9,000 employers and workers, academics, public agencies and private companies, unions, trade associations/chambers and professionals, students, educators, as well as Singaporeans both here and abroad.
About 2,000 of these were engaged through in-depth meetings, focus groups, and dialogues. Many institutes of higher learning and industry organisations also submitted written recommendations, while we continued to receive a steady stream of public feedback via e-mail and through www.futureeconomy.sg.
The CFE members participated actively in the consultation process. Many served as panellists and speakers at various conferences, forums and seminars, dedicating time and energy to share their expertise, as well as gather views on the issues explored by the committee and sub-committees.
This broad engagement effort helped the CFE gather important feedback and ideas which in turn shaped and enriched the committees’ discussions throughout the year. Many of the insights gleaned through consultations are hence reflected in the CFE’s final recommendations.
