Prime Minister issues Writ of Election
Nomination Day is 13 September, Polling Day will be on 23 September.

WRIT OF ELECTION
The Prime Minister has issued the Writ of Election. Presidential Election 2017 is a reserved election for candidates from the Malay community.
Nomination Day is 13 September 2017 (Wednesday).
The Nomination Place is the auditorium of the People’s Association, 9 King George's Avenue, Singapore 208581.
The Returning Officer is Mr Ng Wai Choong, Chief Executive of the Energy Market Authority.
The Nomination Paper is available at the office of the Returning Officer at the Elections Department, 11 Prinsep Link, Singapore 187949 during office hours . Soft copies of the form can also be downloaded at the Elections Department website at http://www.eld.gov.sg.
The Nomination Paper must be duly completed in English and signed by the prospective candidate and his/her proposer, seconder and at least four assentors whose names appear in the current registers of electors.
CERTIFICATE OF ELIGIBILITY, COMMUNITY CERTIFICATE, POLITICAL DONATION CERTIFICATE
To be nominated as a candidate, the prospective candidate must deliver his/her Nomination Paper accompanied by the:
i. Certificate of Eligibility;
ii. Community Certificate certifying that he/she belongs to the Malay community; and
iii. Political Donation Certificate.
Application forms to apply for the above certificates can be obtained from the Elections Department during office hours or from its website. Applications for the Certificate of Eligibility and the Community Certificate must reach the Elections Department not later than 4 September 2017 (Monday), 5 pm. Applications for the Political Donation Certificate must reach the Elections Department not later than 9 September 2017 (Saturday), 1 pm.
The Nomination Paper and certificates mentioned in paragraph 7 must be delivered in duplicate , by the prospective candidate in person together with his/her proposer, seconder and at least four assentors to the Returning Officer at the Nomination Place between 11 am and 12 noon on Nomination Day.
In addition, there will be a new form for candidates to voluntarily undertake that they will conduct their election campaign in a manner that is dignified, decorous and consistent with the President’s position as the Head of State and the symbol of national unity. The form can be obtained from the Elections Department during office hours or from its website. Signed undertakings will be put up on the notice board, together with the Nomination Paper and certificates, during nomination proceedings on Nomination Day.
The deposit payable by each candidate is $43,500. It shall be paid either in cash or by a bank draft or a certified cheque (payable to "Accountant-General, Singapore"). Payment can be made at any time but not later than 12 noon on Nomination Day. Payments before Nomination Day can be made at the Accountant-General’s Department, 100 High Street, #06-01, The Treasury, Singapore 179434 or at the Nomination Place on Nomination Day.
If more than one candidate stands nominated on Nomination Day, the Returning Officer will declare 23 September 2017 (Saturday) to be Polling Day. Under the law, Polling Day at any Presidential election shall be a public holiday. Every employer shall, on Polling Day, allow every elector in his employ a reasonable period of time for voting.
