Planning for a trip down to your favourite mall? Remember to exercise care and stay vigilant, and keep yourself and others safe.

Here are some tips for you to keep yourself protected while you shop:

1) Get it done online

While retail shops may be open, it’s still best to stay home as much as possible to keep the risk of infections down. Many stores are now online too, so online shopping is your best bet to keep yourself safe, and have your shopping haul delivered to your door.

Alternatively, choosing ‘’click and collect’’ delivery also helps to minimise the time you spend in store – just select what you need online, and pick it up from the physical store after.

2) Avoid crowded places

Before you head out, check www.spaceout.gov.sg for crowd levels at malls. Opt for venues that are less crowded to minimise your risk of contracting the virus. Alternatively, try to shop at off-peak hours to avoid the crowds.

3) Make appointments

Wherever possible, book appointments in advance, such as for the viewing or testing of products, so that you minimise your time spent in the store, as well as contact with others.

4) Abide by safe-management measures

Retail stores have safe management measures to ensure that there is a 1m safe distance between people.  You can do your part to abide by these measures such as following the limits on the number of apparels per fitting. Cooperate with staff to allow them to take your temperature before entry, and as always, wear your mask at all times, unless you are eating or drinking.

5) Use self-checkout or contactless payment

To reduce contact, use self-checkout payment kiosks, cashless or contactless payment where possible. If available, sanitise your hands before and after touching high-contact surfaces like self-checkout kiosks.

6) Check-in and out using SafeEntry

All malls should have SafeEntry in place – this will help to facilitate contact tracing and identification of clusters. Just check in and out wherever required. Ensure you have your mobile device, or your ID with you to do so.
