Our population will continue to evolve. Newcomers will become part of our society, and new generations will grow up together. But what makes us Singaporean will endure.— Lawrence Wong, Prime Minister and Minister for Finance
At National Day Rally (NDR) 2026, Prime Minister Lawrence Wong announced that the Government will refresh our population at a measured and sustainable pace to address our falling Total Fertility Rate.
What Does This Mean for You?
For All Singaporeans
Singaporeans will remain the majority of our population.
The foreign workforce will be managed to complement local workers and support our economy.
For Communities
Every community can remain confident that its place, representation and voice in Singapore are secure.
The languages, cultures and traditions of all communities will continue to be preserved.
For New Citizens
Newcomers will be supported to help them integrate into the Singapore family.
Singaporeans are encouraged to reach out with open hearts to those starting a new life in Singapore.
