NDR 2026 Highlights 

At this year’s National Day Rally (NDR 2026), Prime Minister Lawrence Wong highlighted the changed global context today and outlined the Government’s plans to build a stronger Singapore. His speech covered four key themes:

  1. Strengthening Our Families: Enhance childcare leave, and financial, caregiving  and housing assistance. 

  2. Embracing Technology: Adopt new technology, while putting safeguards in place and ensuring that people remain at the centre.

  3. Staying Open and Connected: Refresh Singapore’s population at a measured and sustainable pace, while retaining our identity and values.

  4. Future-Ready Singapore: Develop our outer islands to plan for future needs.

Childcare leave, financial, preschool and housing support will be enhanced to give Singaporeans greater confidence in starting and raising families.

New measures will help keep public housing and Executive Condominiums affordable and accessible for Singaporeans, while providing greater support for families with children.

Opening in December 2026, the exhibition will feature rare historical artefacts and immersive experiences exploring the Four Great Classic Novels of Chinese literature.

5. [SCCC] New Singapore Chinese Heritage Gallery to Tell the Singapore Chinese Community’s Story

A new Singapore Chinese Heritage Gallery, scheduled to open in 2031, will tell the story of Singapore’s Chinese community and its contributions to Singapore’s multicultural heritage.
